I recognize the great deal of trust that the almost 8,000 residents in District 4 place in me, and the some 45,000 residents in our city. I promise to value that trust by listening to the requests of our residents, informing residents on issues and to be prepared and actively participate at meetings.
I ran for City Council because I love Riverton and want to contribute to the success of the place my family and I hope to always call home. I’m now running for Mayor for the same principal reason.
My campaign, and subsequent time in office has been focused on increasing economic development and driving efficiency in government to drive down costs and fees for residents. I’ve also concentrated on finding ways to engage residents in policy-making and creating more of a sense of community and participation, mostly through leveraging technology and promoting better, more frequent communication. I believe that my background and experience in business, leadership and technology are assets for the City and will continue to serve it well in my various roles as an elected official, RDA Board Member, UPD Board Member and Jordan River Commission board member.
For almost 20 years, I have demonstrated the leadership necessary to run both successful start-up and Fortune 500 organizations in the Direct Sales, Finance and Technology industries. I currently work on the advisory board of a publicly traded company, managing one of their operational units in Utah. Prior to that, I was on the corporate leadership team of a global direct sales company that operates in over 35 markets serving as the VP Technology. In that role, I was responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership of global integrated systems, software and IT infrastructure, which included the creation of mobile and web applications for their distributors worldwide. I have also held management positions for a nationwide mortgage brokerage firm and at Morgan Stanley. I have also held a principal broker real estate license in the state of Utah for over 10 years.
I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Utah in Political Science and Economics and received an MBA from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University. I enjoy running, hiking, tennis and of course spending time with my beautiful wife and two children.
In addition to serving the residents of District #4, I have the distinct privilege of participating on the following Boards:
