Trent Staggs was elected mayor of Riverton, Utah, on November 7, 2017, after serving four years on the Riverton City Council. During his time as mayor he has worked tirelessly to lower taxes and fees, improve transportation and oversee a responsible city government.
As your Mayor, Trent has focused and will continue to focus on three main areas:
Trent has demonstrated the leadership necessary to manage everything from small business to Fortune 500 organizations for over 20 years. He has used that experience to not just innovate city government, through lower costs and greater value for residents, but has also improved the overall quality of life for Riverton residents.
Trent received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Utah in Political Science and Economics and received an MBA from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University. He currently resides in Riverton with his wife, Alisha, and their two children.
I love my community. I ran and subsequently served my community on the city council and now as Mayor, to contribute to the success of the place my family and I always want to call home.
I am not a career politician, but a hardworking professional and businessowner with over 20 years of experience running and managing successful Fortune 500 to small and medium sized enterprises. I consciously chose to serve in local politics, because that is where the biggest impacts can and should be made. The genius of our form of government, as it was intended, is that almost all of the important decisions are made at the local level of our communities. Communities lead, politicians follow.
As Riverton Mayor, I have cut millions of dollars in taxes while increasing services for residents. I have also led in planning with neighboring communities for smart, sustainable growth, ensuring adquate infrastructure and open spaces. That is the type of leadership we need - Leadership that listens and delivers results.
